The Financial Selfie is an interactive financial education initiative designed to help participants develop a clearer understanding of their personal financial position. The session introduces a practical framework for examining cash flow, income and expenses, assets, liabilities, and net worth, while encouraging participants to reflect on their own financial patterns and circumstances.

An accompanying Financial Selfie Workbook was developed to enable participants to apply the concepts directly to their own finances. Using the idea of taking a personal “financial selfie,” the workbook guides participants through a structured assessment of their current financial position and encourages them to use this understanding as a starting point for future financial planning.

Using a start-up business case, the session guides students through the process of forecasting sales and estimating the financial resources and costs involved in operating a business. The emphasis is on helping students understand how assumptions about future business activity can be translated into financial information for planning and decision-making.

The presentation develops the business case step by step, moving from sales forecasting to projected income statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow projections. Through these interconnected projections, students can see how expected sales, operating costs, financing needs, profitability, and cash availability come together to provide a more complete picture of the financial feasibility of a proposed business..
